Occlusal stress distribution in the human skull with permanent maxillary first molar extraction: A 3-dimensional finite element study

Safiya Sana et al.

Summary: The study found that extraction of the maxillary permanent first molar during orthodontic treatment alters the distribution of occlusal stress in the human skull, with the zygomatic process of the temporal bone experiencing the highest stress. Additionally, the stress in the pterygomaxillary suture area decreases after tooth extraction, with even lower stress in the space closure model.

Three-dimensional morphological and positional analysis of the temporomandibular joint in adults with posterior crossbite: A cross-sectional comparative study

Bushra Sufyan Almaqrami et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the morphological and positional features of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) in adults with unilateral and bilateral posterior crossbite compared to control subjects. Results showed that unilateral posterior crossbite is associated with specific TMJ asymmetry and characteristic morphological features.
