Cost-effective graphite felt and phosphorous flame retardant with extremely high electromagnetic shielding

Zhenting Yin et al.

Summary: With the arrival of the 5G era, it is crucial to develop conductive polymers that can achieve electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, mechanical enhancement, and flame retardancy. A novel EP composite was created by incorporating graphite felt (GF) as a three-dimensional structure and organophosphorus derivatives with different valences as a flame retardant. The composite showed high EMI shielding effectiveness and improved mechanical properties. However, the wick effect of GF necessitated the addition of a flame retardant.
