Comprehensive investigation of reclaimed carbon fibre reinforced polyamide (rCF/PA) filaments and FDM printed composites

Ning Su et al.

Summary: The effects of fibre content on the thermal and mechanical properties as well as porosity of reclaimed carbon fibre reinforced polyamide-6 (rCF/PA) filaments were analyzed. It was found that the samples with 20 wt% and 30 wt% fibre content exhibited the best mechanical performance, with the optimal 20 wt% samples showing a significantly higher tensile strength and modulus compared to unreinforced PA. However, the mechanical properties of the 40 wt% samples dropped significantly due to factors such as fountain flow, poor fibre alignment, and high porosity.

Evaluation on effect of printing process parameter through Taguchi approach on mechanical properties of 3D printed PLA specimens using FDM at constant printing temperature

N. Lokesh et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effect of FDM printing parameters (layer thickness, build orientation, and raster angle) on the mechanical properties of PLA specimens. The results show a negative correlation between layer thickness and UTS, and the maximum tensile strength is observed at a 45-degree build orientation.

Preparation of Chemically Modified Lignin-Reinforced PLA Biocomposites and Their 3D Printing Performance

Seo-Hwa Hong et al.

Summary: By conducting a simple esterification reaction, pristine lignin was converted to a new lignin modified with a terminal carboxyl group. Incorporating the COOH-lignin into PLA biocomposites can reduce the cost of printing PLA 3D filaments without altering their thermal and mechanical properties.

Novel AIE luminescent tetraphenylethene-doped poly (lactic acid) composites for fused deposition modeling and their application in fluorescent analysis of 3D printed products

Feiwen Yang et al.

Summary: Novel luminescent poly (lactic acid) composite filaments were developed successfully in this study, which emitted ultra-bright blue light and could be used for visual inspection of 3D printing product quality. The incorporation of tetraphenylethene (TPE) into the PLA matrix significantly increased the fluorescence intensity, providing a unique opportunity for the design and application of luminescent 3D printing materials.
