On the application of an optimized Frequency-Phase Modulated waveform for enhanced infrared thermal wave radar imaging of composites

Saeid Hedayatrasa et al.

Summary: Thermal Wave Radar (TWR) imaging utilizes pulse compression to enhance probing depth and resolution in infrared thermographic testing. The novel frequency-phase modulated (FPM) waveform introduced in this paper outperforms existing waveforms in defect detectability and contrast-to-noise ratio, particularly for deeper defects, when inspecting glass and carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites.
