Experiment and analysis on the spray characteristics of diesel/polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethers (PODE)/ethanol blends in non-reacting environment

Yu Liu et al.

Summary: The addition of PODE and ethanol to diesel can improve spray characteristics, including increasing the spray cone angle and improving radial dispersion. The Desantes model and Naber model demonstrate good prediction accuracy for spray tip penetration under different experimental conditions. DP20 has a significantly lower equivalence ratio than diesel, and adding ethanol to DP20 further decreases the equivalence ratio.

Spray characteristics of diesel, biodiesel, polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethers blends and prediction of spray tip penetration using artificial neural network

Yu Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the spray characteristics of biodiesel and polyoxymethylene dimethyl ethers (PODE) under different injection pressures. It was found that biodiesel blends have a greater spray tip penetration compared to diesel blends, and the addition of PODE brings the spray characteristics of biodiesel closer to pure diesel. An excellent predictive model was also developed using computer technology.

Experimental study on spray characteristics of octanol biodiesel and modification of spray tip penetration model

Junjian Tian et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of octanol on the spray characteristics of biodiesel through experiments and model verification. Results show that increasing octanol content leads to changes in spray penetration, cone angle, velocity, and area. The modified model, which introduces density, viscosity, and correction factors, is more suitable for predicting the spray characteristics of blended fuel under high injection pressure.
