Modelling Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET) using anisotropy resolved multi-dimensional emission spectroscopy (ARMES)

Fiona Gordon et al.

Summary: The study presents a novel quantitative FRET analysis using ARMES in a HSA and ANS model, resolving fluorophore contributions spectrally through pEEM matrices and multivariate analysis. The results show increased accuracy in calculating FRET efficiency with the new method, utilizing PARAFAC and Tucker3 for multivariate analysis.

Reversible Dimerization of Human Serum Albumin

Alexey Chubarov et al.

Summary: The Pulsed Dipolar Spectroscopy (PDS) methods of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) were used to study reversible non-covalent dimers of Human Serum Albumin (HSA), showing that chemical modifications of Cys-34 can affect dimerization. The weak non-covalent dimers formed by HSA at physiological concentrations have a well-defined structure and can easily revert back to monomers, playing an important role in transport and binding processes.

Salt-dependent passive adsorption of IgG1κ-type monoclonal antibodies on hydrophobic microparticles

Veronika Dzupponova et al.

Summary: Understanding how antibodies adsorb on solid surfaces is crucial for developing effective approaches to control the process. This study examined passive adsorptions of two highly similar monoclonal antibodies on a hydrophobic solid surface and found that screening of electrostatic interactions using salts reduces the passive adsorption. The study also revealed differences in salt-dependent adsorption binding constants between the two antibodies, indicating that even minor sequence variations can affect the adsorption process.

Simple Equations Pertaining to the Particle Number and Surface Area of Metallic, Polymeric, Lipidic and Vesicular Nanocarriers

M. R. Mozafari et al.

Summary: Bioactive encapsulation and drug delivery systems have proven to be effective therapeutics for treating infections, cancer, and other diseases, as well as for applications in food fortification. Thorough analysis and evaluation of characteristics such as particle number and surface area are necessary for successful formulation of these compounds without the need for sophisticated analytical techniques. Mathematical formulas and equations are presented for research and development of drug delivery and controlled release systems targeting infection and cancer sites in vitro and in vivo.
