Dynamic hydrophobicity of superhydrophobic PTFE-SiO2 electrospun fibrous membranes

Fangdong Zou et al.

Summary: The evaluation of static hydrophobicity is insufficient for practical applications of WBFMs, and dynamic wettability should be assessed instead. A novel experimental strategy was developed to evaluate the dynamic hydrophobicity of WBFMs, leading to the successful fabrication of WBFMs with excellent waterproofness and breathability. A theoretical formula for the critical thickness of WBFMs, considering fiber micro-morphology, was derived.

Triple-Scale Superhydrophobic Surface with Excellent Anti-Icing and Icephobic Performance via Ultrafast Laser Hybrid Fabrication

Rui Pan et al.

Summary: A new triple-scale micro/nanostructured superhydrophobic surface designed via ultrafast laser ablation and chemical oxidation exhibits excellent anti-icing and icephobic properties, with low ice adhesion strength and outstanding resistance to high humidity. The surface structure combines periodical microcone arrays, densely grown nanograsses, and dispersedly distributed microflowers, providing good Cassie state stability and preventing ice and water accumulation effectively.

Corrosion inhibition effect of nano-SiO2 for galvanized steel superhydrophobic surface

Tingting Liang et al.

Summary: By preparing superhydrophobic surfaces containing nano-SiO2 through a simple one-step immersion process on galvanized steel, the corrosion resistance and hydrophobicity of the steel can be significantly improved. The addition of SiO2 promotes the formation of surface rough structure, resulting in excellent superhydrophobic properties and corrosion resistance in the prepared surfaces.

Effects of ionic liquid types on the tribological, mechanical, and thermal properties of ionic liquid modified graphene/polyimide shape memory composites

Yuting Ouyang et al.

Summary: Different ionic liquid modified graphene nanosheets were introduced into polyimide to improve the tribological, thermal, and mechanical properties of shape memory IG/PI composites. The addition of IG significantly enhanced the shape recovery rate and self-lubricating properties of the composites, while also reducing the friction coefficient and wear rate compared to pure PI. This work demonstrates the potential for preparing shape memory materials with excellent tribological, thermal, and mechanical properties.
