Near-Infrared Upconversion Mesoporous Tin Dioxide Theranostic Nanocapsules for Synergetic Cancer Chemophototherapy

Summary: This study constructed pH/near-infrared dual-responsive nanotheranostics for cancer treatment using ultrasmall tin dioxide (SnO2) and upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs). The nanocapsules exhibited improved drug delivery efficiency, inherent imaging performance, and high treatment efficiency through combining photodynamic therapy, hyperthermia effect, and chemotherapy. Additionally, the tin element in the nanocapsules served as a contrast agent for CT imaging. This study demonstrated the potential of nanocapsules for cancer treatment with excellent biocompatibility.

Upconversion luminescence characteristics of Ho3+ ion doped single-particle fluoride micron core-chell structure

Phase transition and luminescent properties of the Eu3+ ions-doped NaYF4:Yb, Er nanoparticles

Summary: Monodisperse cubic NaYF4: 20%Yb, 2%Er nanoparticles were synthesized successfully using high-temperature thermal decomposition method. The crystal structure of the nanoparticles changed from cubic to hexagonal phase with the increase in Eu3+ concentration, resulting in decreased upconversion luminescent intensities. Energy transfer between Er3+ and Eu3+ ions was observed with near infrared light excitation.

Bismuth-based nanomaterials have shown potential as efficient photocatalysts for inclusive solar energy utilization, and this review discusses strategies to enhance their absorption of near-infrared light for improved performance.

Preparation and upconversion luminescence properties of GdTaO4:RE/Yb(RE=Tm, Er) phosphor through experimental optimization design

Summary: In this study, a regression equation between the luminescent intensity of phosphors and the rare earth doping concentration was established based on experimental optimization design. The optimal samples were prepared using the high-temperature solid state method. The XRD diffraction patterns showed that the samples were of pure phase. The relationship between excitation power and luminescent intensity as well as the relationship between sample temperature and luminescent intensity were analyzed. The quenching activated energy of the sample was also calculated.

Comprehensive defect suppression in perovskite nanocrystals for high-efficiency light-emitting diodes

Utilizing Upconversion Emission to Improve the Photocatalytic Performance of the BiOI Microplate: A Bifunctional Platform for Pollutant Degradation and Hydrogen Production

Summary: In this study, a novel photocatalyst with intense sunlight-harvesting capacity was developed by coupling GMEY upconverting particles with BiOI microplates to achieve pollutant degradation and water splitting. The composites showed improved photocatalytic activity due to a built-in electric field and enhanced sunlight-harvesting ability, leading to efficient water splitting with a H-2 production rate of 10.35 mu mol/g/h.

Summary: Monodispersed nanoscale NaYF4:Ln(3+) nanoparticles with surface-passivated core-shell structures exhibit intense X-ray-charged persistent luminescence and narrow-band emissions tunable from 480 to 1060 nm. The mechanism for persistent luminescence in NaYF4:Ln(3+) is proposed through thermoluminescence measurements and the host-referred binding energy (HRBE) scheme, suggesting the role of lanthanide ions as effective electron traps. These uniform and spherical nanoparticles are dispersible in solvents, enabling new applications such as 3-dimensional optical information storage and inkjet-printing multicolor persistent luminescent nanoparticles.
