The diffusion and anomalous diffusion of charged particles in the plateau regime of toroidal plasma

Hong Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the diffusions and anomalous diffusions of charged particles in the plateau regime of toroidal plasma with a Maxwellian velocity distribution. Based on the diffusion flux obtained in the toroidal plasma, the diffusion coefficient tensor and thermal diffusion coefficient tensor are derived, where two angular diffusion coefficients are anomalous diffusions, depending on radial position and independent of the magnetic field. It is found that all the radial transport coefficients and normal angular coefficients are inversely proportional to the square of the gyrofrequency and the square of the magnetic induction.

Dynamics of positron scattering from lithium, sodium and potassium atoms in hot and dense plasmas

Nirvik Masanta et al.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamics of positron scattering from the ground state of lithium, sodium, and potassium atoms in hot and dense plasmas, revealing significant changes in cross sections due to the effects of background plasma screening. The two-state approximation method is applied to analyze the elastic scattering and rearrangement scattering of positrons, with accurate determinations of wave functions and energies of target alkali atoms achieved. The results show good agreement with other calculations for the unscreened case, highlighting the importance of considering plasma screening effects in positron scattering studies.

Quadratic cross-sections in the multiple scattering by a pair of liquid cylinders insonified by arbitrary-shaped acoustical sheets

F. G. Mitri

Summary: This study derives exact expressions for the acoustic scattering, extinction, and absorption cross-sections of a pair of fluid/liquid cylinders, accommodating arbitrary incident insonifying field shapes and illustrating the differences between extrinsic and intrinsic cross-section behaviors. The formalism is generalized for any acoustical sheet with consideration for various wavefronts, and an analogy with optics is noted.
