Additionally, oil hydrocarbons induce liver metabolism by upregulating the expression of various receptors and enzymes, while the insecticide activates inflammatory and stress responses associated with apoptosis.

The frequency of micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes was significantly higher in fish samples from polluted rivers compared to the control, indicating pollution mainly by oil spillage and industrial activities in these rivers.
