Evolution of microbial community and antibiotic resistance genes in anammox process stressed by oxytetracycline and copper

Qian-Qian Zhang et al.

Summary: The study examined the individual and combined impacts of copper ion (Cu2+) and oxytetracycline (OTC) on anammox performance and its self-recovery process. The results showed that anammox bacteria were inhibited by 1.0 mg L-1 OTC, Cu2+, and OTC + Cu2+, but the inhibition was reversible. The abundance of functional genes and some antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) were positively related to the dominant bacterium Ca. Kuenenia, indicating that the recovery of performance was associated with the induction of potentially resistant species.

Reduction of antibiotic resistance genes under different conditions during composting process of aerobic combined with anaerobic

Houyu Li et al.

Summary: This study found that aerobic combined with anaerobic composting can effectively remove antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) from animal manure, with an ARG reduction rate of over 95% under certain operating conditions. The research also highlighted the stronger influence of bacterial community on ARG removal compared to environmental factors.
