Photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline antibiotics using delafossite silver ferrite-based Z-scheme photocatalyst: Pathways and mechanism insight

Jiayin Guo et al.

Summary: Tetracycline, a widely used antibiotic, poses risks to the aquatic ecosystem. A novel ternary Z-scheme Bi12O17Cl2/Ag/AgFeO2 exhibited enhanced photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline. Optimal catalyst concentration and pH conditions favored the degradation process, while exogenous anions and organic matter hindered it. O-center dot(2)- played a significant role in tetracycline degradation within the Bi12O17Cl2/Ag/AgFeO2 system.

Boron doping induced charge transfer switching of a C3N4/ZnO photocatalyst from Z-scheme to type II to enhance photocatalytic hydrogen production

Donghyung Kim et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the switching of charge transfer mechanism from the Z-scheme to type II through simple boron doping of C3N4/ZnO. The introduction of low-electronegativity boron into C3N4 increased its Fermi level by 0.4 V, leading to a reversed band bending direction at the C3N4/ZnO junction. The resulting type II B-doped C3N4/ZnO showed a stable, drastic increase in photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate, approximately 2.9 times higher than undoped C3N4/ZnO.

Nuray Guy et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized a new ternary MoS2/Ag/Ag3VO4 nanocomposite with significantly enhanced photocatalytic efficiency for the degradation of organic pollutants under visible light. The improved efficiency can be attributed to the created plasmonic Z-scheme structure, which facilitates the separation and delayed recombination of photocarriers.

Facile synthesis of superparamagnetic Fe3O4@noble metal core-shell nanoparticles by thermal decomposition and hydrothermal methods: comparative study and catalytic applications

Eman A. Bakr et al.

Summary: This study developed a facile synthetic route for reusable nanocatalysts based on the combination of magnetite's supermagnetic properties with the unique optical and catalytic properties of noble metal hybrid nanomaterials. Compared two synthetic methods, thermal decomposition and hydrothermal, for Fe3O4 and Fe3O4@M (M = Ag or Au) core-shell hybrid nanostructures synthesis. The hydrothermal method showed better crystalline structure and particle dispersion, as well as better catalytic performance for Fe3O4@Ag and Fe3O4@Au.
