Degradation of acetaminophen by activated peroxymonosulfate using Co (OH)2 hollow microsphere supported titanate nanotubes: Insights into sulfate radical production pathway through CoOH+ activation

Long Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, CoM/TNTs composites were synthesized and successfully activated PMS for efficient removal of ACE in water. The synergetic effect of Co (OH) (+) from CoM and TNTs promoted PMS activation, leading to the degradation of ACE. The study provided insights into radical production and organics attack mechanisms in cobalt-based PMS activation system.

High active amorphous Co(OH)2 nanocages as peroxymonosulfate activator for boosting acetaminophen degradation and DFT calculation

Juanjuan Qi et al.

Summary: Amorphous Co(OH)(2) nanocages were found to be efficient in degrading acetaminophen (ACE) in wastewater, demonstrating superior removal capability and catalytic performance compared to crystalline beta-Co(OH)(2) and Co3O4. This study sheds light on the potential of using amorphous materials as heterogeneous catalysts in sulfate radicals-based advanced oxidation processes for the degradation of emerging organic contaminants.

Review on carbonaceous materials as persulfate activators: structure-performance relationship, mechanism and future perspectives on water treatment

Daniel T. Oyekunle et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that structural adjustments, modifications, and modulation of carbonaceous materials can significantly influence persulfate activation performance in advanced oxidation processes. By tweaking carbon structural features, such as crystal structure, defects, porous structure, surface area, pore size, and oxygen-containing groups, the reaction mechanism can be altered, leading to better control over the persulfate activation process. Discussions also included the influence of reaction pathways on degradation or intermediate products, as well as future research directions for improving the design and properties of carbonaceous catalysts.
