ORR and OER of Co-N codoped carbon-based electrocatalysts enhanced by boundary layer oxygen molecules transfer

Jintao Zhang et al.

Summary: A two-step carbonization method was reported for synthesizing Co-N doped coal tar pitch carbon-based electrocatalysts with superior structural characteristics and efficient catalytic activity. The synergistic effect of the carbon substrate and Co-N-x active sites contributed to the excellent performance of the catalyst in oxygen reduction reactions.

Surface O2- regulation on POM electrocatalyst to achieve accurate 2e/4e-ORR control for H2O2 production and Zn-air battery assemble

Yang Zheng et al.

Summary: Polyoxometalate, after vulcanization, exhibits a two-electron feature in oxygen reduction reaction, with weakened OOH* adsorption and enhanced selectivity. In contrast, pure polyoxometalate shows a typical four-electron character. Vulcanized polyoxometalate also demonstrates photothermal-induced advanced oxidation process for degrading organic pollutants, with a Fe2+ free character and wide pH scope in comparison to traditional Fenton reaction. Additionally, the influence of structure on oxygen reduction reaction selectivity for polyoxometalate is clarified in this work.

Active sites engineering via tuning configuration between graphitic-N and thiophenic-S dopants in one-step synthesized graphene nanosheets for efficient water-cycled electrocatalysis

Xiaoran Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, N, S co-doped graphene nanosheets were synthesized effectively by pyrolysis of a mixture of 2,6-diaminopyridine as N source and ammonium persulfate as S source. By tuning the ratio of graphitic-N and thiophenic-S dopants in the nanosheets, the active sites were engineered to achieve optimized intermediates energy for three-reaction pathways, leading to enhanced electrocatalytic activity and selectivity for water-cycled reactions such as HER, OER, and ORR.

N, S, P co-doped graphene-like carbon nanosheets developed via in situ engineering strategy of carbon pz-orbitals for highly efficient oxygen redox reaction

Sixian Yao et al.

Summary: The study developed multi-heteroatom doped carbon materials with optimized bifunctionality for oxygen redox reactions, demonstrating outstanding catalytic performance for ORR and OER, as well as excellent stability. This was achieved by utilizing a novel precursor and a bottom-up doping strategy to enhance the energy increase of p(z)-orbitals in the active sites.

CoMoP2 nanoparticles anchored on N, P doped carbon nanosheets for high-performance lithium-oxygen batteries

Haoran Xu et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared CoMoP2 nanoparticles anchored on N, P co-doped carbon nanosheets (CoMoP2@NPC), showing promising electrocatalytic activities in Li-O-2 batteries. The unique structure of NPC nanosheets not only improved the electrical conductivity of the composite, but also alleviated volume changes during cycling to expose the active sites of CoMoP2 nanoparticles.
