Multicolor, dual-image, printed electrochromic displays based on tandem configuration

Yejung Choi et al.

Summary: By utilizing hybrid electrodes containing mesoporous TiO2 functionalized with various phosphonated viologens, we successfully created multicolor, dual-image, printed electrochromic displays with fast switching speed and high coloration efficiency. The introduction of a tandem configuration with double-sided fluorine-doped tin oxide electrode between two hybrid electrodes allowed for more diverse colors in a single cell with independent or simultaneous operation of each hybrid electrode. These printed, tandem structured ECDs have the potential for next-generation transparent displays.
