Steering Electron-Hole Migration Pathways Using Oxygen Vacancies in Tungsten Oxides to Enhance Their Photocatalytic Oxygen Evolution Performance

Summary: This study demonstrated the design of a tungsten oxide catalyst with oxygen vacancies for photocatalytic oxygen evolution, which showed improved performance compared to pure WO3. Transient absorption spectroscopy revealed the mechanism of trap states generation to inhibit recombination of carriers. Furthermore, the addition of a Pt cocatalyst further enhanced the photocatalytic activity.

Compared to other Ni-based intermetallic precatalysts under alkaline OER conditions, NiGe showed unexpected electroconversion into gamma-(NiOOH)-O-III with intercalated OH-/CO32- that served as a highly active structure.

Regulating the Local Charge Distribution of Ni Active Sites for the Urea Oxidation Reaction
