Stability analysis of multiplayer games on adaptive simplicial complexes

Daniela Schlager et al.

Summary: We analyze the influence of multiplayer interactions and network adaptation on the stability of equilibrium points in evolutionary games. Through studying the Snowdrift game on simplicial complexes, we find that rational best-response strategies are difficult to destabilize even with higher-order multiplayer interactions.

A universal route to explosive phenomena

Christian Kuehn et al.

Summary: Critical transitions are observed in complex systems, such as synchronization in coupled oscillator networks and epidemic states in populations. The emergence of explosive first-order transitions has garnered attention when classical models are generalized with additional effects. Mathematical arguments suggest that the change in criticality is universally expected when a classical model is varied along a generic two-parameter family. Three explicit examples of this effect are illustrated in different physical systems.

Coupled hypergraph maps and chaotic cluster synchronization

T. Boehle et al.

Summary: Coupled map lattices are prototypical dynamical systems on networks/graphs that exhibit complex patterns through diffusion/Laplacian coupling and nonlinear reactions. CHMs, a class of higher-order coupled dynamical systems involving hypergraph Laplacian, show robust regions of chaotic cluster synchronization and various other periodic patterns. The results suggest that coupled graph maps might be a universal model to understand dynamics on classical graphs and hypergraphs.

The Why, How, and When of Representations for Complex Systems

Leo Torres et al.

Summary: The paper proposes a basic, domain-agnostic language to advance towards a more cohesive vocabulary for complex systems. It evaluates each step of the complex systems analysis pipeline and discusses different types of dependencies that can affect the results and the entire analysis process.

Cooperators overcome migration dilemma through synchronization

Shubhadeep Sadhukhan et al.

Summary: Synchronization, cooperation, and chaos are common phenomena in nature. Research shows that through the synchronous evolution of cooperators, altruistic incentives, and group migration, the migration dilemma in the prisoner's dilemma game can be overcome, leading to an increase in cooperators in the population.
