High-performance copper-matrix materials reinforced by nail board-like structure 2D Ti3C2Tx MXene with in-situ TiO2 particles

Lu Liu et al.

Summary: This study achieved the dispersion of MXenes in copper powders using high-shear mixing, and formed TiO2 particle-based nanostructure reinforcement (NSR) during spark plasma sintering process, significantly improving the yield strength of the copper matrix. Experimental characterization and modeling simulations identified second phase strengthening as the main reason for the improved yield strength of the composites, with the mechanical engagement of NSR playing a crucial role in strengthening.

Ultralight Ti3C2Tx MXene foam with superior microwave absorption performance

Kexuan Hu et al.

Summary: The ultralight Ti3C2Tx foams fabricated by a new method show enhanced microwave absorption (MA) performance when the pre-freezing temperature is decreased, resulting in smaller pore size, more uniform pore structure, decreased electrical conductivity, and enhanced MA performance. Pre-frozen at -196 degrees C, the Ti3C2Tx foams exhibit the most impressive MA performance with minimum reflection loss and effective absorption bandwidth, making them one of the most lightweight materials with excellent MA performance.

Accurately Engineering 2D/2D/0D Heterojunction In Hierarchical Ti3C2Tx MXene Nanoarchitectures for Electromagnetic Wave Absorption and Shielding

Zhengchen Wu et al.

Summary: The precise engineering of heterojunctions in MXene-based composites significantly enhances their electromagnetic wave absorption and shielding capabilities. By decorating Ti3C2Tx lamellas with coordination compounds and controlling their assembly into hierarchical microspheres, a new microstructure with excellent EM wave absorption and interference shielding performance is achieved. The 2D/2D/0D heterojunctions in the carbonized Ti3C2Tx/C/MoO2 microspheres can be tuned to regulate electric/dielectric properties, resulting in superior EM energy absorption and out-plane electron flowing.

Improved synergistic effect for achieving ultrathin microwave absorber of 1D Co nanochains/2D carbide MXene nanocomposite

Fei Pan et al.

Summary: A multilayer-sandwiched Ti3C2Tx MXene heterostructure decorated with one-dimensional Co nanochains was successfully synthesized through a facile in situ process, realizing electromagnetic wave absorbers with ultrathin matching thickness and excellent absorbing capability. The MXene/Co nanochains composites achieved a minimum reflection loss of -46.48 dB with an ultrathin matching thickness of only 1.02 mm at 16.75 GHz, with the absorption mechanism involving conductive loss, polarization loss, magnetic loss, and interlacing magnetic flux field effect.

Assembly of multidimensional MXene-carbon nanotube ultrathin membranes with an enhanced anti-swelling property for water purification

Yuqing Sun et al.

Summary: The multidimensional MXene-carbon nanotube (CNT) ultrathin membranes were successfully assembled by loading a MXene intercalated with CNTs onto a tubular ceramic membrane, which considerably improved the permeability and rejection performance of the membranes. The membranes exhibited a distinct suppressed swelling property via a facile thermal crosslinking process and showed promising anti-swelling property and stability in long-term operation studies. This assembly and thermal crosslinking strategy represents a new avenue for developing high-performance membranes for water purification based on MXene and other 2D materials.
