Transparent alumina ceramics fabricated by 3D printing and vacuum sintering

David Carloni et al.

Summary: Transparent alumina ceramics were successfully fabricated using an extrusion-based 3D printer, with optimized printable slurry recipes and 3D printing parameters, as well as two-step vacuum sintering profiles. The resulting ceramics achieved high density and transparency, demonstrating the competitiveness of 3D printing in transparent ceramic processing.

Reactive sintered highly transparent AlON ceramics with Y2O3-MgAl2O4-H3BO3 ternary additive

Shuixian Yang et al.

Summary: Highly transparent aluminate oxynitride (AlON) ceramics were successfully prepared by reactive sintering with a Y2O3-MgAl2O4-H3BO3 ternary additive, showing small grains and high transmittance. The addition of 0.1 wt.% Y2O3, 0.4 wt.% MgAl2O4, and 0.12 wt.% H3BO3 resulted in the best performance in terms of thickness and transmittance for AlON ceramics prepared by this method.
