Mesoporous and macroporous Ag-doped Co3O4 nanosheets and their superior photo-catalytic properties under solar light irradiation

Muhammad Aadil et al.

Summary: In this study, mesoporous and macroporous nanosheets of Ag.Co3O4 were successfully synthesized with high catalytic activity for efficient removal of toxic dyes under natural sunlight. The exceptional activity of Ag.Co3O4 sample is attributed to its novel bimodal porous structure, high surface area, narrow bandgap, good electrical conductivity, and low charge transfer resistance, showing great potential for eliminating harmful dyes from industrial effluents.

Ibrahim A. Alsafari et al.

Summary: The synthesis of CuFe2O4/MXene nanohybrids with outstanding photocatalytic performance and antibacterial activity was achieved using an ultrasonication approach. The CF nanonuts assisted in reducing the aggregation of MXene layers, presenting an opportunity for the degradation of organic dyes. The photocatalyst CF/MXene nanohybrids exhibited significantly higher photocatalytic activity compared to pristine CF, contributing valuable scientific insights for researchers in water desalination.

Facile synthesis of binary metal substituted copper oxide as a solar light driven photocatalyst and antibacterial substitute

Muhammad Aadil et al.

Summary: This study synthesized transition metal substituted CuO samples via wet chemical route for photocatalytic and antibacterial applications. Among the samples, CMAO showed excellent photocatalytic activity and bactericidal activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains. The results indicated that binary metal substituted CuO (CMAO) has the potential to effectively degrade dyes and eliminate bacteria in industrial effluents.

Fabrication of binary metal doped CuO nanocatalyst and their application for the industrial effluents treatment

Atta ur Rehman et al.

Summary: In this study, binary transition metal (Ce and Zn) doped CuO nanocatalyst was successfully fabricated through a facile co-precipitation technique. The doped sample exhibited significantly higher removal efficiency for MB dye compared to the pristine CuO sample, attributed to its higher surface area and tuned band-gap. The superior adsorption and degradation aptitude of the doped sample were also supported by a higher rate constant in the degradation process.

Graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide supported ZnO nanochips for removal of basic dyes from the industrial effluents

Khadija Chaudhary et al.

Summary: The synthesis of highly active and cheap photo-catalyst materials consisting of ZnO nanochips assembled over graphene derivatives, ZnO@GO and ZnO@RGO, was investigated. Results showed that ZnO@RGO had higher efficiency with 2.4 and 2 times higher kinetic rates for RhB and MB removal, respectively, attributed to the partially restored conjugated structure of RGO leading to better charge migration across semiconductor-carbon heterojunctions. The active species involved in the degradation process were systematically investigated, and a photo-catalytic mechanism was proposed, demonstrating good recyclability and resistance to photo-corrosion for both ZnO@GO and ZnO@RGO even after 360 minutes of consecutive photo-catalytic activity.

Tabinda Rasheed et al.

Summary: A cost-effective ultrasonication approach was employed to synthesize NiFe2O4/MXene heterostructures, which demonstrated outstanding photodegradation performance and antibacterial activity compared to individual NiFe2O4 (NiFe) or MXene. The introduced photocatalyst NiFe/MXene heterostructures showed significantly enhanced degradation of organic pollutants and antibacterial activity against E-coli bacteria. The research contributes significantly to the field of water desalination for young researchers.
