Jamila S. Alzahrani et al.

Summary: This study examines the shielding properties of the WO3-MoO3-TeO2/Sb2O3 glass system against gamma photons, neutrons, and charged particles. The study finds that the glass system has the lowest linear attenuation coefficient and mass attenuation coefficient at 6 MeV, while the highest values are observed at 0.10 MeV. The minimum half-value layers are found at 0.10 MeV, and the maximum half-value layers occur at 6 MeV. The study also analyzes the mean free paths, effective electron densities, gamma dose rates, and cross-sections for fast and thermal neutrons.

Optical and radiation shielding effectiveness of a newly fabricated WO3 doped TeO2-B2O3 glass system

Jamila S. Alzahrani et al.

Summary: The effect of WO3 doping on the optical and shielding properties of the TeO2B2O3 glass system was investigated in this study. The results showed that WO3 doping decreased the density of the glass samples and increased the molar volume. Optical analysis revealed that WO3 doping changed the values of direct and indirect optical band gaps. In terms of radiation shielding, the glass sample with the highest percentage of TeO2 exhibited the best shielding performance.

Monte Carlo simulations and Phy-X/PSD study of radiation shielding effectiveness and elastic properties of barium zinc aluminoborosilicate glasses

Z. Y. Khattari et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanical and radiation shielding properties of BaO-ZnO-La2O3-Al2O3-B2O3-SiO2 glasses. The results showed that increasing the [ZnO]/[B2O3]+[SiO2] ratio improved the mechanical properties and micro hardness of the glass. The mass attenuation coefficient (MAC) was calculated and compared with Monte Carlo simulations, and other shielding parameters were determined. One glass composition was determined to have the most promising characteristics for radiation shielding applications. The elastic moduli and shielding properties were discussed based on the glassy networks.
