The accelerating mechanism of alkali free liquid accelerator based on fluoroaluminate for shotcrete

Renhe Yang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of an alkali free liquid accelerator based on fluoroaluminate on the properties of cement paste, finding that increasing the dosage of fluoroaluminate could shorten setting time but decrease compressive strength. Conceptual models for early hydration of C(3)A and C3S in the presence of fluoroaluminate were also established based on experimental results.

Effect of aluminum sulfate alkali-free liquid accelerator with compound alkanol lamine on the hydration processes of Portland cement

Zhihong Wu et al.

Summary: The addition of alkanol amine in aluminum sulfate alkali-free liquid accelerator can improve both the early strength and late strength of cement. TEA promotes the hydration of C3A to form ettringite and improve early strength, while TIPA promotes the hydration of ferrite phase and enhances later strength. The synergistic effect of TEA and TIPA in proper proportion significantly improves the mechanical properties of cement.

Accelerators for shotcrete - Chemical composition and their effects on hydration, microstructure and properties of cement-based materials

Yifei Wang et al.

Summary: Accelerators are commonly used in shotcrete to accelerate setting and hardening processes of cement-based materials. They can promote early strength but may have negative effects on long-term strength, shrinkage, and durability. Combining with reinforcements, supplementary materials, and chemical admixtures is a feasible approach to overcome these negative effects.
