LPA1 Receptor Promotes Progesterone Receptor Phosphorylation through PKCα in Human Glioblastoma Cells

Silvia Anahi Valdes-Rives et al.

Summary: This study reveals that the LPA(1)/PR pathway plays a regulatory role in GBM progression, promoting cell migration and increasing PR phosphorylation through the interaction between PKC and PR. Additionally, LPAR1 mRNA expression was found to increase with tumor malignancy and correlate with lower survival in grade III astrocytomas, suggesting a potential role of LPA signaling in tumor aggressiveness.

Progesterone Receptor Together with PKCα Expression as Prognostic Factors for Astrocytomas Malignancy

Denisse Arcos-Montoya et al.

Summary: The study revealed a positive correlation between the expression and phosphorylation of PR and PKC alpha in astrocytomas and tumor grade, as well as their intracellular colocalization. Interestingly, bioinformatic analysis showed an inverse ratio between the mRNA expression of PR and PKC alpha and astrocytomas tumor grades. These findings suggest that PR phosphorylation, PKC alpha expression, and their colocalization could serve as potential malignancy biomarkers for astrocytomas grades I-IV.
