A highly active Ni catalyst supported on Mg-substituted LaAlO3 for carbon dioxide reforming of methane

Xiaoli Bai et al.

Summary: In this study, pristine and Mg-substituted LaAlO3 perovskites were synthesized by the citrate sol-gel method and used as supports for Ni catalysts in CO2 reforming of methane. The Ni/La0.8Mg0.2AlO2.9 catalyst showed smaller Ni nanoparticles which led to enhanced reforming activity, and the improved stability was attributed to better anti-coke and anti-sintering properties. The research demonstrates that perovskites with appropriate surface modification can serve as novel supports for highly active catalysts.

Highly active Ni/CeO2 catalyst for CO2 methanation: Preparation and characterization

Ning Rui et al.

Summary: The Ni/CeO2 catalyst prepared via gas discharge plasma and hydrogen reduction shows high activity in CO2 methanation at low temperatures, with excellent CH4 formation rate and redox property. The unique interfacial structure and metal-support interaction lead to the formation of rich interfacial Ni-CeO2 sites, improving the catalyst's performance significantly in H-2 splitting and CO2 activation.

In-Situ FTIR Study of CO2 Adsorption and Methanation Mechanism Over Bimetallic Catalyst at Low Temperature

Daxin Qin et al.

Summary: Ni-based catalysts show great potential for CO2 methanation, with Ni-Mn/gamma-Al2O3 bimetallic catalysts demonstrating high efficiency at 280 degrees Celsius. In situ FTIR studies reveal the mechanism of CO2 methanation over three intermediates on the catalysts. The second metal in the catalysts (Co or Mn) promotes the dispersion of Ni and itself, enhancing the adsorption capacity for CO2 on the catalyst surface.

Assessing the impact of textural properties in Ni-Fe catalysts for CO2 methanation performance

Miriam Gonzalez-Castano et al.

Summary: This study explores the impact of catalyst textural properties on CO2 methanation performance, finding that surface reaction rate is mainly affected by catalyst textural properties, while pore size has a limited impact. Increasing the surface area of Ni-Fe catalysts from 572 to 802 m2/g leads to approximately 10% higher CO2 conversions.

Summary: The doping of second transition metals can promote Ni dispersion and strengthen metal-support interaction, successfully inhibiting serious agglomeration of metallic active sites. The Ni-Co bimetallic catalysts significantly improve low-temperature CO2 methanation activity through a synergistic effect.

Highly selective and stable Ni/La-M (M=Sm, Pr, and Mg)-CeO2 catalysts for CO2 methanation

G. Siakavelas et al.

Summary: In this study, nickel catalysts supported on various metal oxides were prepared and characterized for their catalytic performance in CO2 methanation reaction. The results showed that doping of specific metal oxides can increase the oxygen vacancy and moderate basic site density of the catalysts, leading to enhanced CO2 methanation reaction rates. Additionally, the addition of La3+ was found to stabilize the Ni active sites and improve catalytic properties, particularly in terms of CO2 conversion and CH4 yield.
