Rational design of porous Sn nanospheres/N-doped carbon nanofibers as an ultra-stable potassium-ion battery anode material

Chao Li et al.

Summary: In this work, a hybrid of porous Sn nanospheres incorporated in N-doped carbon nanofiber frameworks (Sn/N-CNFs) was fabricated and showed superior cycling stability as a PIB anode, outperforming other Sn-based materials. This excellent performance is attributed to the synergistic effects of porous Sn nanospheres and N-CNFs network, providing sufficient space for volume expansion/contraction of Sn and enhancing electron/ion transport.

A new strategy for achieving high K+ storage capacity with fast kinetics: realizing covalent sulfur-rich carbon by phosphorous doping

Wenrui Wei et al.

Summary: Carbon anodes with rich heteroatoms and dilated graphitic interlayer spacing are crucial for accelerating the practical application of potassium ion batteries. The P-doped S-rich mesoporous carbon prepared in this study exhibits excellent potassium storage capacity, superior rate performance, and long-term stability, attributed to high sulfur doping and the coexistence of ordered and disordered regions in the structure. The promotion of covalent sulfur effectively increases the adsorption of K+ and enhances the K+ reaction kinetics. The proposed one-step synthesis strategy enables large-scale production of high-performance anodes for K+ storage.
