Solvent Extraction of Copper from Sulfate-Chloride Solutions Using LIX 84-IC and LIX 860-IC

Maria C. Ruiz et al.

Summary: The presence of chloride ions had a negative impact on the copper extraction equilibria in organic phases containing pure ketoxime and pure nonylaldoxime, with a larger effect on LIX 84-IC. Chloride ions accelerated the rate of copper extraction despite the reaction being fast in all tested conditions. Increasing temperature from 25°C to 35°C positively affected the extraction equilibria for LIX 84-IC.

Removal of cadmium ions from wastewaters using corn cobs supporting nano-zero valent iron

Ahmed A. Younes et al.

Summary: The new magnetic nanocomposite based on corn cobs and nano-zero valent iron (corn cobs-nZVI) showed a high adsorption capacity for Cd(II) ions in wastewater, reaching 145 mg/g at optimal conditions. The experimental data fit well with Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model, indicating a spontaneous, exothermic, and irreversible adsorption process.
