Temporal order of signal propagation within and across intrinsic brain networks

Mike J. Veit et al.

Summary: This study investigated the temporal dynamics of activity within and across functional MRI-derived nodes of intrinsic resting-state networks of the human brain using iEEG and SPES. The evoked responses N1 and N2 were found to be associated with intra- and internetwork communications, respectively. Results from a separate cognitive experiment showed less temporal separation in evoked electrophysiological responses within the same resting-state networks compared to those across different networks.

Altered sense of self during seizures in the posteromedial cortex

Josef Parvizi et al.

Summary: This study presents a rare case of seizures originating from the posteromedial cortex (PMC) causing self-dissociation in a patient. Electrical stimulation of the seizure zone and a homotopical region within the contralateral PMC induced a subjectively similar state, indicating the potential causal importance of the PMC in integrating self-referential information.

Mapping autonomic, mood and cognitive effects of hypothalamic region deep brain stimulation

Clemens Neudorfer et al.

Summary: This study investigated the acute effects of hypothalamic region deep brain stimulation in patients with mild Alzheimer's disease, identifying various clinical responses and their neuroanatomical correlates. The findings localized the acute effects to specific tracts and nuclei within the hypothalamus and the wider diencephalon, providing insights for future neuromodulation research.
