Change in Work-Related Income Following the Uptake of Treatment for Mental Disorders Among Young Migrant and Non-migrant Women in Norway: A National Register Study

Kamila Angelika Hynek et al.

Summary: Women, especially migrant women, are at increased risk of mental disorders, which can affect their labor market participation and work-related income. A study found that outpatient mental healthcare treatment led to a decrease in income for all groups, with a stronger negative effect among those with low income. Migrant women from Western and EU Eastern Europe with high income were not significantly affected by the treatment. Mental disorders can negatively impact income, future workforce participation, and increase dependency on welfare services, regardless of migrant background.
