Experimental study on microstructure and mechanical properties of stalk for Glycyrrhiza Glabra

Bao-Qin Wen et al.

Summary: This study used a one-year-old stalk of Glycyrrhiza glabra as the research object to analyze the mechanical properties of shearing and bending. It was found that the microstructure of the stalk has a significant impact on its mechanical properties, providing a theoretical basis for the design of equipment for processing Glycyrrhiza glabra stalks.

A nonlinear elasto-plastic bond model for the discrete element modeling of woody biomass particles

Yuan Guo et al.

Summary: This study introduces an experiment-informed, semi-empirical, elasto-plastic bond model for modeling the behavior of woody biomass particles in comminution. The model shows promising performance and is validated in verification tests. The research also reveals a strong anisotropic behavior of wood blocks with different grain orientations.
