Electric field-enhanced electrochemical CRISPR biosensor for DNA detection

Ziyue Li et al.

Summary: The developed EFE electrochemical CRISPR biosensor is a simple, versatile tool for detecting DNA targets in a homogeneous solution phase, achieving sensitive detection without the need for complicated immobilization processing. By leveraging electric field enhancement and diffusivity differences, the sensor provides a robust and sensitive method for nucleic acid-based molecular diagnostics.

Direct comparison with terahertz metamaterials and surface- enhanced Raman scattering in a molecular-specific sensing performance

Soo Hyun Lee et al.

Summary: The study compared the sensing performance of terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) when accompanied by proper plasmonic subwavelength structures. The trade-off relationship between limit-of-detection and quenching, as well as the specificity determined by differences in spectral features, were observed. Both spectroscopic techniques show great potential for highly sensitive, reproducible, label-free, and cost-effective diagnosis tools in the biomedical fields.

Versatile electrochemical biosensor based on bi-enzyme cascade biocatalysis spatially regulated by DNA architecture

Yongcun Yan et al.

Summary: A one-pot method based on RCA is developed to prepare micron-sized DNA flowers (DFs) with co-encapsulation and spatial regulation of bi-enzyme molecules, GOx and HRP. The cascade of GOx/HRP is regulated in the highly ordered water environment of DFs, leading to enhanced catalytic efficiency. The versatile application of bi-enzyme co-encapsulated DFs in sensitive and selective detection of cancerous exosomes and thrombin shows great potential in bioanalysis and disease diagnosis.

The Inclusive Review on SARS-CoV-2 Biology, Epidemiology, Diagnosis, and Potential Management Options

Arezoo Beig Parikhani et al.

Summary: A novel coronavirus emerged in Wuhan, China at the end of 2019, rapidly spreading globally, leading to a declaration of a global pandemic by the World Health Organization in 2020. The virus, closely related to a bat coronavirus, causes the disease COVID-19 and can be transmitted through aerosols and direct/indirect contact. This review aims to summarize the latest scientific literature on various aspects of the outbreak to aid in public education and advance efforts towards prevention and control of SARS-CoV-2.
