Insight into master plots method for kinetic analysis of lignocellulosic biomass pyrolysis

Laipeng Luo et al.

Summary: In analyzing kinetic reactions of solid-state reactions like lignocellulosic biomass pyrolysis, the accuracy of determining the kinetic mechanism function using the master plots method depends strongly on the variation degree of the frequency factor with conversion and the conversion dependency of activation energy. Failure to consider these factors when utilizing the master plots method may lead to misestimating the kinetic mechanism function.

Production and characterization of biochar produced from slow pyrolysis of pigeon pea stalk and bamboo

Swapna Sagarika Sahoo et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of pyrolysis temperature on biochars derived from bamboo and pigeon pea stalk, indicating that biomass composition significantly affects biochar yield and properties. Higher lignin content in bamboo biomass resulted in greater biochar yield compared to pigeon pea stalk biomass at the same pyrolysis temperature, emphasizing the importance of biomass composition in biochar production. Additionally, biochars obtained at a pyrolysis temperature of 600 degrees C exhibited higher fixed carbon content, carbon mass fraction, and BET surface area, suggesting optimal conditions for biochar production.
