Enhanced antitumour efficiency of R8GD-modified epirubicin plus tetrandrine liposomes in treatment of gastric cancer via inhibiting tumour metastasis

Xue-Tao Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that R(8)GD-modified epirubicin plus tetrandrine liposomes exhibited superior antitumor effects in vitro and in vivo, killing tumor cells, inhibiting tumor metastasis, and cutting off energy supply for tumor cells. These liposomes show potential as a new therapy for treating gastric cancer.

Autophagy and the Lysosomal System in Cancer

Suresh Kumar et al.

Summary: Autophagy and the lysosomal system, known together as the autophagolysosomal system, play a crucial role in maintaining cellular health and homeostasis by clearing cellular waste. TFEB regulates this system by driving the expression of multiple genes, including components of the autophagolysosomal system. Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are key in the physiological and pathological roles of this system.

Is targeting autophagy mechanism in cancer a good approach? The possible double-edge sword effect

Su Min Lim et al.

Summary: Autophagy is a cellular process essential for maintaining homeostasis, involving the degradation and recycling of cytosolic materials. In cancer, autophagy plays a dual role, suppressing malignant transformation while supporting cancer cell survival and promoting tumorigenicity. Researchers are investigating the potential of targeting autophagy for cancer therapeutics.
