Activated carbon produced from bamboo and solid residue by CO2 activation utilized as CO2 adsorbents

Duy Anh Khuong et al.

Summary: Bamboo and its solid residue were successfully converted into porous carbon through physical activation with CO2 agent, with the solid residue showing a higher potential due to its very low ash content. The activated carbon materials exhibited dominant microporous structures, with the highest BET surface area observed in the solid residue-derived carbon. The microporosity structure and CO2 adsorption capacity of the activated carbon could be enhanced under optimal CO2 activation conditions.

Development of biomass based-activated carbon for adsorption dehumidification

Chairunnisa et al.

Summary: Desiccant dehumidification systems can be separated from traditional mechanical vapor compression systems, with a focus on developing materials for efficient moisture removal. Activated carbons derived from waste biomass show promising dehumidification performance and can be regenerated at low temperatures. The new desiccant material exhibited better dehumidification capacity compared to silica gel, making it suitable for waste heat recovery applications.

Evolution of physico-chemical properties of Dicranopteris linearis-derived activated carbon under various physical activation atmospheres

Nga T. Mai et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the physical activation using CO2 and steam agents to improve the physicochemical properties of activated carbon derived from Dicranopteris linearis. The relative proportion of CO2 and steam heavily influences the structure of the activated chars. The increase in steam proportion resulted in a proportional increase in the total specific surface area of the activated chars, making them comparable to commercial products and potentially suitable for industries that require high rigidity products such as pharmaceutical and cosmetic sectors.

Zero-waste biomass gasification: Use of residues after gasification of bagasse pellets as CO2 adsorbents

Hong Nam Nguyen et al.

Summary: Biomass gasification is a key technology for energy production, especially in developing countries with abundant biomass resources. However, the low conversion efficiency and generation of solid waste hinder the technology's expansion. This study found that the residues after bagasse gasification have high carbon content and diverse carbon structures, making them suitable for use as CO2 adsorbents with excellent adsorption capacity.

Hybrid composite of modified commercial activated carbon and Zn-Ni hydrotalcite for fermentative hydrogen production

Southisa Sybounya et al.

Summary: Commercial activated carbon (CAC) was chemically modified with H3PO4 at different temperatures to enhance hydrogen production via dark fermentation. The best catalytic performance was observed at an activation temperature of 600 degrees C, resulting in a 17% increase in hydrogen production compared to the control. The Zn-Ni-HT/mCAC600 composite not only served as a carrier material for hydrogen production, but also regulated the pH during fermentation and adsorbed unfavorable substances in the system.
