Rosmarinic Acid Regulates Microglial M1/M2 Polarization via the PDPK1/Akt/HIF Pathway Under Conditions of Neuroinflammation

Yicong Wei et al.

Summary: The study found that rosmarinic acid can inhibit microglial polarization to the M1 phenotype and promote polarization to the M2 phenotype under conditions of neuroinflammation. An increase in mitochondrial respiration and metabolic reprogramming are necessary for this process. Additionally, the study suggests that regulation of HIF expression through the PDPK1/Akt/mTOR pathway by rosmarinic acid may offer a potential therapeutic approach for inhibiting neuroinflammation by modulating microglial M1/M2 polarization.

Molecular insights into the therapeutic promise of targeting HMGB1 in depression

Tarapati Rana et al.

Summary: Depression is a common psychiatric disorder with unclear pathogenesis. Recent studies suggest that immune dysregulation and increased proinflammatory cytokines may be associated with its development. HMGB1, as a central player in innate immune responses and inflammation-related diseases, plays a significant role in neuroinflammation underlying depression.
