Analyses of Xylem Vessel Size on Grapevine Cultivars and Relationship with Incidence of Esca Disease, a Threat to Grape Quality

Cadophora sabaouae sp. nov. and Phaeoacremonium Species Associated with Petri Disease on Grapevine Propagation Material and Young Grapevines in Algeria

Summary: A field survey conducted in different regions of Algeria found 70 Phaeoacremonium-like isolates and three Cadophora-like isolates in asymptomatic grapevine propagation material and symptomatic young grapevines. Five Phaeoacremonium species and a new species of Cadophora named Cadophora sabaouae were identified. Pathogenicity tests showed that all identified species were pathogenic on grapevine cuttings.

The Impact of Metabolic Scion-Rootstock Interactions in Different Grapevine Tissues and Phloem Exudates

Summary: This study analyzed the metabolome of eleven graft combinations to elucidate the metabolic interactions between scion and rootstock. The results showed that heterografting affects rootstocks more than scions, and leaves were identified as the best tissue for grafting-related metabolic markers. These findings provide valuable insights for future research on scion-rootstock interactions and identification of metabolic markers for important agronomic traits in grafted grapevines.
