Dark Energy Survey Year 3 results: Cosmological constraints from galaxy clustering and weak lensing

T. M. C. Abbott et al.

Summary: This study presents cosmology results from large-scale structure using imaging data from the Dark Energy Survey. The analysis combines three two-point correlation functions and provides consistent cosmological constraints. These results are significant for improving our understanding of cosmology.

KiDS-1000 cosmology: Cosmic shear constraints and comparison between two point statistics

Marika Asgari et al.

Summary: The study presents cosmological constraints using the fourth data release of the Kilo-Degree Survey (KiDS-1000), revealing tension with the Planck Legacy analysis predictions. The results from the fiducial COSEBIs analysis align well with other complementary analyses, indicating robust S-8 constraints dominated by statistical errors.

KiDS-1000 Cosmology: Multi-probe weak gravitational lensing and spectroscopic galaxy clustering constraints

Catherine Heymans et al.

Summary: This study combines weak gravitational lensing observations from KiDS-1000, redshift-space galaxy clustering observations from BOSS, and galaxy-galaxy lensing observations from overlapping surveys to constrain the structure growth parameter S-8, resulting in a discrepancy with the Planck observations by 8.3% relative to Planck. The systematic uncertainties identified through various analyses are incorporated into the cosmological analysis, revealing a tension in the matter fluctuation amplitude parameter, sigma(8).

KiDS-1000 catalogue: Weak gravitational lensing shear measurements

Benjamin Giblin et al.

Summary: This study presents weak lensing shear catalogues from the KiDS-1000 survey, evaluating the accuracy of the PSF model and validating the shear estimates. No significant non-lensing B-mode distortions were found in the data, with low amplitude of PSF residuals detected in the highest-redshift bins. The joint KiDS-1000 shear and photometric redshift calibration is deemed sufficiently robust for combined-probe gravitational lensing and spectroscopic clustering analyses.

Self-calibration of weak lensing systematic effects using combined two- and three-point statistics

Susan Pyne et al.

Summary: The study shows that using the weak lensing bispectrum alongside the power spectrum is effective in reducing systematic errors and significantly shrinking the credible regions for cosmological parameters. A joint analysis of power spectrum and bispectrum can self-calibrate systematic effects to stringent levels required by future weak lensing surveys, reducing the need for external calibration data.

Nuw CDM cosmology from the weak-lensing convergence PDF

Aoife Boyle et al.

Summary: The study focuses on accurately determining the total neutrino mass and the dark energy equation of state parameters through weak lensing probes. It calculates the convergence PDF using large-deviation statistics and validates the model against simulated data, demonstrating its precision and reliability, showing the advantages of the approach over other methods.

Probability distribution function of the aperture mass field with large deviation theory

Alexandre Barthelemy et al.

Summary: A theoretical model for the one-point statistics of the aperture mass (Map) in tomographic cosmic shear surveys is developed using the large deviation principle applied to the projected matter density field and angular aperture masses. The nulling procedure based on the BNT transform can create observables independent of small-scale modes, making predictions for the probability distribution function of the observable very accurate. However, comparisons with simulations show inconsistent results, indicating the need for more precise numerical developments for refined observables in weak-lensing surveys like Euclid.

Euclid preparation: IX. EuclidEmulator2-power spectrum emulation with massive neutrinos and self-consistent dark energy perturbations

M. Knabenhans et al.

Summary: EuclidEmulator2 is a fast and accurate predictor for the nonlinear correction of the matter power spectrum, achieving 2% accuracy in an eight-dimensional parameter space. By improving the quality of N-body simulations and conducting high fidelity tests, it has been successfully applied in various comparisons and blind tests, showing superior accuracy of nonlinear correction factors at z <= 3 compared to high-resolution dark-matter-only simulations.

The integrated three-point correlation function of cosmic shear

Anik Halder et al.

Summary: This study introduces the integrated three-point shear correlation function i zeta(+/-), a higher order statistic of the cosmic shear field that can be directly estimated in wide-area weak lensing surveys, providing a practical and complementary tool for weak lensing cosmology. By developing a theoretical framework and model, and validating it through N-body simulations, the joint analysis of i zeta(+/-) and xi(+/-) is shown to significantly improve parameter constraints and enhance the figure of merit of dynamical dark energy equation of state parameters.

Cosmic shear cosmology beyond two-point statistics: a combined peak count and correlation function analysis of DES-Y1

Joachim Harnois-Deraps et al.

Summary: In this study, cosmological parameters are constrained through a joint analysis of peak counts and two-point shear correlation functions from the Dark Energy Survey (DES-Y1). The structure growth parameter S-8 is determined to be 0.766(-0.038)(+0.033), providing one of the tightest constraints on S-8 from DES-Y1 weak lensing data with 4.8 percent precision. Through simulations, the expected DES-Y1 peak-count signal for various cosmologies is determined, and the impact of photometric redshift and shear calibration uncertainty is calibrated in the cosmological analysis.
