The Physical Properties of the SVS 13 Protobinary System: Two Circumstellar Disks and a Spiraling Circumbinary Disk in the Making

Ana K. Diaz-Rodriguez et al.

Summary: This study presents observations of the protobinary system SVS 13 using VLA and ALMA, revealing two small circumstellar disks and an early-stage circumbinary disk. The emission of dust exhibits variations in different directions and strong molecular transitions are detected. Orbital proper motions and stellar masses are measured.

Space and laboratory observation of the deuterated cyanomethyl radical HDCCN

C. Cabezas et al.

Summary: Observations of TMC-1 using the Yebes 40 m radio telescope revealed a complex line pattern indicative of an open-shell species. Through laboratory experiments, researchers were able to synthesize and observe the deuterated form of the molecule, HDCCN. The high abundance of the deuterated form was explained by a standard gas-phase model involving deuteron transfer from the H2D+ molecular ion.

Hot Corino Chemistry in the Class I Binary Source Ser-emb 11

Rafael Martin-Domenech et al.

Summary: This study reports the detection of over 120 emission lines corresponding to eight complex organic molecules and three isotopologues towards the Ser-emb 11 binary young stellar object. The complex organic emission is found to be unresolved and indicative of the presence of a hot corino. The relative abundances of these molecules in Ser-emb 11 and other Class I sources are consistent with those of Class 0 sources, suggesting a continuity in the chemical composition of hot corinos during protostellar evolution.

Complex organic molecules in low-mass protostars on Solar System scales: II. Nitrogen-bearing species

P. Nazari et al.

Summary: The study found similarities in the abundances of nitrogen-bearing complex organic molecules compared to oxygen-bearing species in two deeply embedded protostars, suggesting a shared chemical history but with some variations due to local conditions like temperature sensitivity. Future data will enable a direct comparison between ice and gas abundances of smaller and larger nitrogen-bearing species.

Summary: The detection of oxygen-bearing complex organic molecules towards the cyanopolyyne peak of TMC-1 provides new insights into the formation mechanisms of complex organic molecules in cold interstellar sources. Further studies are needed to fully understand the true formation mechanism of these molecules.

ALMA observations of doubly deuterated water: inheritance of water from the prestellar environment

S. S. Jensen et al.

Summary: Determining the D2O column density and ratios in warm regions of low-mass Class 0 sources B335 and L483, it was found that the D2O/HDO ratio is higher than HDO/H2O ratios, indicating the chemical inheritance of water from the prestellar phase to the inner warm envelope. The observed D2O/H2O ratios suggest a dichotomy in deuterium fractionation of water towards isolated and clustered protostars, with a higher D/H ratio towards isolated sources.

The Perseus ALMA Chemistry Survey (PEACHES). I. The Complex Organic Molecules in Perseus Embedded Protostars

Yao-Lun Yang et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the presence of COMs in low-mass embedded protostars is related to gas column density and is not influenced by protostellar properties such as bolometric luminosity and temperature. There is a chemical relation between different COMs, indicating chemical diversity. Additionally, the abundance of larger COMs relative to smaller COMs increases with gas column density, suggesting efficient production of complex species in denser envelopes.

H2 Formation on Interstellar Grains and the Fate of Reaction Energy

Stefano Pantaleone et al.

Summary: This study investigated the fate of energy released during the formation of molecular hydrogen on interstellar dust icy mantles. The majority of the liberated energy is absorbed by the ice, while the newly formed H-2 molecule is eventually released into the gas phase, impacting the interstellar medium significantly.
