Quick and Mild Isolation of Intact Lysosomes Using Magnetic-Plasmonic Hybrid Nanoparticles

The Son Le et al.

Summary: The efficient isolation of intact lysosomes is crucial for studying their functions and metabolites. A nanoparticle-based magnetic separation method was developed to target lysosomes using magnetic-plasmonic hybrid nanoparticles conjugated with amino dextran. The intracellular transport process of these nanoparticles was analyzed to determine the optimal conditions for magnetic isolation. The study found that the intactness of lysosomes can be quickly impaired, and optimal settings for high purity isolation were identified.

Cyclophilin A Impairs Efferocytosis and Accelerates Atherosclerosis by Overexpressing CD 47 and Down-Regulating Calreticulin

Vinitha Anandan et al.

Summary: The impairment of efferocytosis in apoptotic macrophages by cyclophilin A is linked to reduced cholesterol efflux and altered expression of CD 47 and calreticulin. These effects can exacerbate other mechanisms of Cyp A in accelerating atherosclerosis progression, as shown in New Zealand white rabbits on a high-fat diet. Further studies are needed to explore the precise mechanisms involved in impaired efferocytosis and the potential therapeutic targets for atherosclerosis.

Hyperglycemia Induces Trained Immunity in Macrophages and Their Precursors and Promotes Atherosclerosis

Summary: The study found that hyperglycemia-induced trained immunity may explain the ineffectiveness of targeting elevated glucose in reducing macrovascular risk in diabetes, and suggests new targets for disease prevention and therapy.
