Theoretical Investigation on the Heating Performance of a Recuperative Heat Pump Water Heater Using CO2/HCs With Large Temperature Glides in Cold Regions

Jielin Luo et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the heating performance of a single-stage recuperative heat pump water heater using eco-friendly CO2/HCs as refrigerants at low ambient temperatures. Exergy analyses and global optimization are conducted to improve the system performance by optimizing cycle pressures and mixture concentration. The results show that the recuperative cycle outperforms the vapor-injection cycle in terms of heating performance.

Air source heat pump/heat pipe domestic room heating system: Design and experimental research

Shuxue Xu et al.

Summary: This study introduced a new room heating system using heat pipes and air source heat pumps as heat sources. The system could operate stably and provide a comfortable indoor temperature of 20 degrees Celsius under outdoor temperatures ranging from -1.5 to 3.3 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the heating coefficient of performance (COP) of the system could reach 4.35-4.64.

Experimental and techno-economic analysis of transcritical CO2 heat pump water heater with fin-and-tube and microchannel heat exchanger

Yikai Wang et al.

Summary: The study showed that the heating capacity and coefficient of performance of the microchannel system increased significantly compared to the baseline fin-and-tube system. However, the fin-and-tube system exhibited more obvious attenuation in heating capacity under frosting conditions. Additionally, the primary energy consumption, CO2 emission, and corresponding cost were lower for the microchannel system compared to the fin-and-tube system. Additionally, a sensitivity analysis with unit electricity price was conducted in the economic analysis to determine the life cycle cost.
