Atomic-Precision Tailoring of Au-Ag Core-Shell Composite Nanoparticles for Direct Electrochemical-Plasmonic Hydrogen Evolution in Water Splitting

Jiaying Mo et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the efficient conversion of solar energy to hydrogen using a core-shell structure of silver-gold bimetallic material, showing an increase in hydrogen production rate compared to commercial Pt catalysts. The use of localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in conjunction with electrochemical methods opens up a new pathway for tuning the light capture range of hydrogen evolution reaction catalysts.

Plasmon-Enhanced Hydrogenation of 1-Dodecene and Toluene Using Ruthenium-Coated Gold Nanoparticles

Luis Carlos de la Garza et al.

Summary: A photocatalyst was designed by depositing Ru clusters onto plasmonic Au nanoparticles to accelerate the hydrogenation of arenes substrates and alkenes. It was found that light irradiation significantly increased the hydrogenation reaction rate, with the localized surface plasmon resonance of the supporting Au nanoparticles explaining this phenomenon.
