Improving the Electrocatalytic Activities and CO Tolerance of Pt NPs by Incorporating TiO2 Nanocubes onto Carbon Supports

Rodolfo M. Antoniassi et al.

Summary: Incorporating TiO2 nanocubes on Carbon Vulcan supports followed by Pt NPs synthesis resulted in improved performance of the anode electrocatalysts towards CO oxidation in low-temperature fuel cells, outperforming commercial TiO2 counterparts. Fuel cell experiments demonstrated that Pt/TiO2NCs-C was resistant to CO-poisoning, showing superior performance in operational conditions. These findings have important implications for developing advanced electrocatalysts for PEMFCs.

Performance analysis of Pt/TiO2/C catalyst using a multi-scale and two-phase proton exchange membrane fuel cell model

Masoomeh Ghasemi et al.

Summary: The study investigates the effects of using TiO2 as support for Pt nanoparticles in PEMFCs and finds that the Pt/TiO2/C catalyst structure can suppress Pt particle growth but may introduce additional electronic ohmic losses. The research highlights the importance of considering the trade-offs between these factors when designing and optimizing catalyst structures for long-term PEMFC operations.
