Highly active and efficient Cu-based hydrotalcite-like structured materials as reusable heterogeneous catalysts used for transcarbonation reaction

Praveen Kumar et al.

Summary: A series of Cu-Al hydrotalcite-like compounds were prepared and investigated as catalysts for the transcarbonation of glycerol with dimethyl carbonate. The Cu/Al molar ratio significantly influenced glycerol conversion and glycerol carbonate yield. Among the synthesized catalysts, the Copper-Aluminum (3Cu-Al@500) catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic activity.

Effect of Ni, La, and Ce Oxides on a Cu/Al2O3 Catalyst with Low Copper Loading for Ethanol Non-oxidative Dehydrogenation

Gaukhar Yergaziyevna Yergaziyeva et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that modification with Ni, La, and Ce oxides can enhance the catalytic activity of Cu/Al2O3 catalyst in non-oxidative dehydrogenation of ethanol. Among the modifications, Cu-Ni/Al2O3 catalyst showed the highest selectivity for acetaldehyde, while Cu-La/Al2O3 catalyst exhibited the highest selectivity for butanol due to differences in acidity.

Synthesis of Cu-based catalysts for hydrogenolysis of glycerol to 1,2-propanediol with in-situ generated hydrogen

Naveen Kumar Mishra et al.

Summary: The study highlighted the importance of catalyst basicity in catalytic transfer hydrogenation, with copper playing a significant role in the cleavage of glycerol. A proposed reaction mechanism involved ethanol hydrogenation at copper sites and the formation of intermediates at the basic sites of the catalysts.
