Investigation of an ultra-sensitive fiber-optic fuel adulteration sensor by propagating a higher-order Bessel-Gauss beam

Arijit Datta et al.

Summary: Utilizing the advantages of higher-order Bessel-Gauss beam, this research introduces an extremely sensitive optical sensor for detecting kerosene adulteration in petrol. The sensor works on the principle of modal interference and can detect -0.02% kerosene contaminant in petrol within a sensing length of 7 cm, with a sensitivity 4.1 times higher than traditional Gaussian beam sensors.
