Engineering Heterostructure-Incorporated Metal Silicates Anchored on Carbon Nanotubes for Highly Durable Lithium Storage

Qiushi Wang et al.

Summary: The study presents a strategy to overcome the electrochemical stability issues of transition metal silicates in long-term cycling testing by constructing a heterostructure, resulting in the successful preparation of CNT@NiCuSi composite as an anode for lithium-ion batteries. By tailoring the capacitive contribution and diffusion in the heterostructure, a high capacity and prolonged life for LIBs were achieved.

Comparison of thyristor and insulated-gate bipolar transistor -based power supply topologies in industrial water electrolysis applications

Joonas Koponen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the operational and investment costs of an industrial-scale alkaline water electrolyzer with four common rectifier topologies. It concludes that thyristor-based rectifiers provide poor quality for both the AC and DC sides, leading to nonoptimal specific energy consumption and a notable reactive power component in the water electrolyzer. Transistor-based topologies may offer up to 4.5% lower SEC of the electrolyzer than the traditional 6-pulse thyristor bridge. A modular single-stage rectifier based on insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) bridges is suggested as an alternative solution to improve power quality for both the electrolyzer and the electricity grid.
