From non-renewable energy to renewable by harvesting salinity gradient power by reverse electrodialysis: A review

Ali Zoungrana et al.

Summary: Fossil fuels are scarce and have negative impacts on the earth, leading to a shift towards alternative and renewable energy sources like wind and solar power. However, salinity gradient power (SGP) presents a huge potential and advancements are needed in systems like reverse electrodialysis (RED) to reduce energy costs.

Thermo-economic evaluation of a hybrid solar-gas driven and air-cooled absorption chiller integrated with hot water production by a transient modeling

Ehsan Amiri Rad et al.

Summary: This study investigates a cogeneration solar system for a building in Sabzevar, Iran, using energetic, exergetic, and economic analyses to determine the most efficient generator temperature. The results show that the minimum natural gas consumption occurs at a generator temperature of 104 degrees C, the highest chiller exergy efficiency is observed at 97 degrees C, and the economic optimum generator temperature is 96 degrees C for driving the absorption chiller and supplying consuming hot water.

Vapor compression heat pumps with pure Low-GWP refrigerants

Di Wu et al.

Summary: Global warming is a major environmental concern that requires effective methods to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel consumption. Low-GWP refrigerants have become a research focus for the development of vapor compression heat pumps, but there is a lack of published reviews and systematic application guidelines for using pure low-GWP refrigerants in heat pumps.

Performance of a single-stage recuperative high-temperature air source heat pump

Shoujun Sun et al.

Summary: The novel single-stage recuperative high-temperature air source heat pump prototype shows excellent thermodynamic efficiency and working condition. The key impacts of throttle valve opening, refrigerant concentration, and water flow rate on the system performance were revealed and analyzed with the refrigerant mixture of n-hexane and propylene. This heat pump demonstrates promising application prospects based on comparisons with other heat pump systems.
