A new energy storage sharing framework with regard to both storage capacity and power capacity

Jiang-Wen Xiao et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an energy storage sharing framework considering both the storage capacity and the power capacity. By using a non-cooperative game approach, a generalized Nash equilibrium is found as the energy sharing strategy, which improves energy efficiency and reduces costs.

Optimal bid-offer strategy for a virtual energy storage merchant: A stochastic bi-level model with all-scenario feasibility

Shiyu Liu et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the importance of virtual energy storage in the power system and proposes a stochastic bi-level optimization model to deal with renewable uncertainty. The results of the model show that VES merchants have the ability to manipulate market power and profit from price arbitrage, playing a significant role in the electricity market.

A sharing economy for residential communities with PV-coupled battery storage: Benefits, pricing and participant matching

Sarah Henni et al.

Summary: This study explores a sharing economy model that allows residential communities to share solar generation and storage capacity, resulting in cost savings. A fixed pricing approach is discussed to achieve fair distribution of profits generated through the sharing economy. The findings suggest that a platform-based sharing economy model has the potential to match and coordinate suitable communities.

An Insurance Contract Design to Boost Storage Participation in the Electricity Market

Nayara Aguiar et al.

Summary: This study proposes an insurance contract to compensate energy storage systems for providing flexibility and incentivize higher renewable participation in the electricity mix. The contract encourages renewable producers to bid higher and provides an additional source of revenue for storage owners.

Incentive-based coordination mechanism for distributed operation of integrated electricity and heat systems

Weiye Zheng et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the price incentives offered by EPNs to encourage DHNs to fully utilize pipeline energy storage in order to improve energy efficiency. A bi-level model is used to address the individual interests of EPNs and DHNs, and a simplified OTF model is proposed to protect the privacy of DHNs in distributed operation. The introduced incentive-based coordination mechanism effectively improves social welfare by lowering total costs in both EPNs and DHNs, reaching an equilibrium of Stackelberg competition.

A business-oriented approach for battery energy storage placement in power systems

Zeenat Hameed et al.

Summary: Battery energy storage systems (BESSs) are becoming increasingly important in the low carbon transformation of power systems, but their deployment in the power grid is currently hindered by economic viability issues. To promote the growth of the BESS industry, private, commercial, and institutional investments are needed, as well as careful consideration of the business feasibility factors in the placement decisions during construction, connection, operation, and disposal stages.
