Effect of transition metal oxide doping on catalytic activity of titania for the oxidation of 1,2-dichloroethane

Xing Zhang et al.

Summary: Transition metal oxides (MOx)-doped titania solid solution catalysts were prepared and characterized for the oxidation of 1,2-dichloroethane. Among them, 10CrOx-TiO2 exhibited the highest catalytic activity and resistance to chlorine poisoning, attributed to strong acidity, redox ability, high adsorbed oxygen species concentration, and strong interaction between TiO2 and CrOx.

An alternative scheme of biological removal of ammonia nitrogen from wastewater-highly dispersed Ru cluster @mesoporous TiO2 for the catalytic wet air oxidation of low-concentration ammonia

Hengjun Gai et al.

Summary: In this study, a highly dispersed heterogeneous metal catalyst Ru@TiO2 was successfully fabricated and applied in the catalytic wet air oxidation of ammonia. The catalyst showed excellent catalytic performance in reducing ammonia concentration to meet emission standards and adjusting the selectivity of oxidation products. Additionally, the kinetics and mechanism of CWAO of ammonia were studied, providing a theoretical basis for industrial applications.

Tuning electron correlations of RuO2 by co-doping of Mo and Ce for boosting electrocatalytic water oxidation in acidic media

Jing He et al.

Summary: By incorporating Mo and Ce into RuO2, the electronic structures were effectively tuned, resulting in enhanced catalytic activity and stability, as well as reduced energy barrier for the oxygen evolution reaction. Ru3MoCeOx exhibited outstanding activity and long-term stability in PEM electrolyzers, making it a promising efficient anode catalyst for water splitting.

How to achieve complete elimination of Cl-VOCs: A critical review on byproducts formation and inhibition strategies during catalytic oxidation

Fawei Lin et al.

Summary: This review examines the formation of byproducts in the catalytic oxidation of Cl-VOCs, with a focus on the potential risks posed by polychlorinated byproducts. Strategies to inhibit byproducts formation are explored, with an emphasis on the need to develop catalysts for the efficient and complete elimination of Cl-VOCs. Further research is needed to understand the migration and evolution routes of Cl species and design catalysts to achieve truly complete elimination of Cl-VOCs without secondary pollution.

Chlorine-Resistant Hollow Nanosphere-Like VOx/CeO2 Catalysts for Highly Selective and Stable Destruction of 1,2-Dichloroethane: Byproduct Inhibition and Reaction Mechanism

Yu Huang et al.

Summary: The research focused on developing economical and robust catalysts for the destruction of chlorinated volatile organic compounds (CVOCs). The hollow nanosphere-like VOx/CeO2 catalysts, particularly the V0.05Ce catalyst, showed superior catalytic activity and selectivity due to the presence of oxygen vacancies and excellent low-temperature redox ability. Moreover, the presence of water vapor facilitated the activation and deep destruction of 1,2-DCE over V0.05Ce catalyst by efficiently removing Cl species from the surface.

Oxidative decomposition of chlorobenzene over iron titanate catalysts: The critical roles of oxygen vacancies and adsorption geometries

Hangqi Xia et al.

Summary: Iron titanate catalysts with different Fe/(Fe + Ti) ratios were prepared and studied in catalytic oxidation reactions, with sulfation enhancing both activity and stability. The generation of Ti3+-oxygen vacancy (Vo) was investigated, and it was found to be related to electron transfer from Fe3+ to Ti4+ as well as the incorporation of S4+ into the surface lattice. The presence of Ti3+-Vo was shown to play a significant role in the activation of chlorobenzene on the catalysts, contributing to their high activities.

Enhanced visible light response of heterostructured Cr2O3 incorporated two-dimensional mesoporous TiO2 framework for H2 evolution

Khalid A. Alzahrani et al.

Summary: Mesoporous TiO2 frameworks doped with varying percentages of Cr2O3 nanoparticles were prepared using a one-step sol-gel method for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution under visible light, with glycerol as a sacrificial agent. The optimal 4% Cr2O3/TiO2 catalyst exhibited the highest photocatalytic efficiency, enhancing hydrogen evolution rate by 1430 times compared to pure TiO2, attributed to factors such as narrow bandgap, wide visible light response, and synergistic effects.
