Correlation between the surface characteristics of carbon supports and their electrochemical stability and performance in fuel cell cathodes

Ignacio Jimenez-Morales et al.

Summary: In this paper, an in-depth study was conducted on carbon blacks with similar surface area but different surface chemistry, and Pt/CB electrocatalysts were successfully prepared. The results obtained help establish a relationship between surface chemistry and electrochemical properties, providing guidance for designing high-performance and stable Pt/C catalyst layers.

N-Doped few-layer graphene encapsulated Pt-based bimetallic nanoparticles via solution plasma as an efficient oxygen catalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction

Phu Quoc Phan et al.

Summary: The N-doped few-layer graphene encapsulated Pt-based bimetallic nanoparticles were successfully synthesized via the solution plasma (SP) method. The synthesis strategy exhibited fine core-shell structured nanoparticles with acceptable electrocatalytic activity towards the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and excellent durability, possibly attributed to the synergistic effect of the Pt-based bimetallic core and N-doped graphene shell containing high amounts of pyridinic-N and quaternary-N.
