(o-Phenylenediamino)borylstannanes: Efficient Reagents for Borylation of Various Alkyl Radical Precursors

Kensuke Suzuki et al.

Summary: (o-Phenylenediamino)borylstannanes were synthesized to achieve radical boryl substitutions of alkyl radical precursors, providing insight into the mechanism of homolytic substitution. The phenylenediamino structure was found to enhance reactivity to alkyl radicals in the reaction process. Additionally, C(sp(3))-H borylation of THF was successfully achieved using xanthone's triplet state.

EPR evidence for α-triphenylstannylvinyl radicals in the O-directed hydrostannation of dialkylacetylenes with Ph3SnH/cat. Et3B/O2

Hamish A. Watson et al.

Summary: This study provides definitive EPR evidence for the existence of alpha-triphenylstannylvinyl radicals in the low-temperature free radical hydrostannation reaction, with isotropic hyperfine splitting patterns and spectral simulations confirming the assignments. The measurement of isotopic Sn-119/117 hyperfine coupling constants and a H-1(beta) hyperfine coupling constant further support the identification of the radical.

Activation of the Si-B interelement bond related to catalysis

Jian-Jun Feng et al.

Summary: Si-B reagents, including silylboronic esters and silylboranes, have gained attention for their versatility in introducing silicon and boron atoms into organic frameworks. Recent advancements in the field have led to diverse transformations through transition-metal-catalysed or transition-metal-free Si-B bond activation. This review focuses on the new applications of Si-B reagents and also discusses new methods of their preparation and relevant reaction mechanisms.
