Electrochemiluminescence with semiconductor (nano)materials

Yiran Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper reviews the combination of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) with semiconductor (SC) materials, which has provided new applications and opportunities in (bio)sensing and imaging. The recent advances in generating ECL in original configurations are highlighted, from utilizing bulk SC as electrode materials to using SC nanocrystals or quantum dots as bright ECL nano-emitters. The challenges and future prospects in designing new detection strategies in (bio)analytical chemistry, light-addressable systems, imaging, and infrared devices are also discussed.

Graphdiyne doped with transition metal as ferromagnetic semiconductor

Ru Li et al.

Summary: The study shows that a convenient and effective route has been developed to prepare carbon-based magnetic semiconductors by modifying with transition metal elements, with Co-GDY showing the most outstanding ferromagnetism. Spin-polarized DFT calculations further confirm that the robust ferromagnetism of Co-GDY arises from the most significant local magnetic moment.

Different mechanisms of improving CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite solar cells brought by fluorinated or nitrogen doped graphdiyne

Huan Huang et al.

Summary: Fluorinated and nitrogen-doped graphdiyne have been utilized in perovskite solar cells for enhanced performance, with the former improving fill factor and the latter boosting short-circuit current. The doping of F-GDY forms new Pb-F bonds, while N-GDY or GDY doping increases electron density and conductivity through PBII-x formation.

Summary: This study reports the ECL of CDs in water via coreactant ECL, using a multicomponent bottom-up approach to prepare and study the luminescence properties of modified CDs, and exploring the dependence of luminescence properties on surface chemistry. By investigating the PL and ECL response of CDs with surfaces rich in different amino groups, it was found that precursors affect PL emission while surface states influence ECL emission.
